McCaysville and the Toccoa River are closer, roughly 6-7 minutes. Close enough for dinner in town, far enough to feel tucked into the woods. The exact address comes with your arrival message.

Yes. Mineral Bluff is the quieter side of Lake Blue Ridge and one of the most popular cabin areas for Blue Ridge visitors — you get wooded privacy at the cabin with downtown Blue Ridge 21 minutes away and Lake Blue Ridge 18–22 minutes.

Do I need a car when staying near Blue Ridge, GA?

Yes. There is no ride-share or public transit out here, and everything is a drive — downtown Blue Ridge 21 minutes, Lake Blue Ridge 18–22, and the Chattahoochee National Forest trailheads about 30 minutes and up. The roads in are paved and the last stretch is a gravel driveway on a slope, so four-wheel drive helps in wet or winter weather.

Fall Branch Falls is the closest — a 37-minute drive, then a short, easy hike to a two-tier drop. Long Creek Falls is roughly 1h10m–1h30m and connects to a stretch of the Appalachian Trail, and Amicalola Falls is about 1h01m. Can I hike the Appalachian Trail from Cardinal House?

Yes. Springer Mountain — the southern terminus of the AT — is roughly 1h20m–1h45m from the cabin, with the final 6.5–7 miles on gravel forest road (FS 42), so check conditions before you go. The Benton MacKaye Trail is much closer at about 25 minutes and connects into the AT, and Long Creek Falls sits on a spur off the AT for a short, scenic stretch.

Lake Blue Ridge is 18-22 minutes away by way of Aska Road, including the dam recreation area and the public lake access. The Scenic Railway depot in downtown Blue Ridge is about 21 minutes. Where do I park?

The driveway is gravel and slopes down to an open parking area by the cabin, with room for multiple vehicles. The approach roads are paved; four-wheel drive is recommended for the driveway, and any vehicle should take it slowly in rain, ice, or snow.

How do I get the door code and directions?

Accepted Answer

You will get an automated arrival message from MountainBlu / Casago the day before check-in with the door code, driving directions, and Wi-Fi info. If it has not landed by check-in day, check spam or ask here and we will flag it for the team.

What time is check-in / check-out?

Accepted Answer

Check-in is 4 PM. If you are driving in from far away, ask about early check-in. Check-out is 10 AM. If you need a little extra time, ask Casago guest support — they will do their best based on the next arrival.

What are the house rules?

Sleeps 6. No events or extra guests beyond the booking count. No smoking indoors. Quiet after 10 PM to respect the neighbors. Dogs off the furniture. Please leave the firepit fully out before bed. Full house rules appear at checkout on whichever platform you book and again in your welcome guide.

Is there cell service / Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi is fast and works on every deck. Cell service depends on your carrier: AT&T and Verizon usually get 2-4 bars on the deck, T-Mobile is spottier. Wi-Fi calling works well throughout the cabin if your signal drops.

How many people does Cardinal House sleep, and is it a good fit for two couples?

The cabin sleeps 6 across three bedrooms — one king, one queen, and a bunk room — plus its own bathroom for each of the two main bedrooms. Two-couples trips are one of the most common bookings; both couples get a proper king or queen room and their own bathroom.

Are there quiet hours?

Quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM out of respect for neighbors on the ridge. Soaking in the hot tub late is welcome; just keep voices low after 10.

How does trash work?

All trash must be bagged and placed inside the cans in the heavy wooden outdoor container, with the lid closed at all times to keep animals out. There is no recycling pickup on-site.

Yes to both. The hot tub sits on its own deck among the treetops, and it runs in every season. Please keep the cover on when it is not in use so it stays hot and clean for the next soak. Cleaning and maintenance notes are in the welcome guide you get after booking.

Are dogs allowed?

Dogs welcome — up to two per stay. Fenced main-level deck, water and food bowls, an outdoor tether, and a dog bed on request. Where to find it: bowls are to the left of the main entrance under the coat hooks, treats are on the kitchen counter, and waste bags and the tether are under the kitchen sink. Off the furniture, please — the dog bed and rugs are fair game. Any pet fee shows at checkout on the platform you book through.

Is Cardinal House a good cabin for families with dogs?

Yes — the cabin is built around the assumption that at least one dog is coming. Fully fenced main-level deck, food and water bowls, a treat jar, a leash tether, a waste-bag dispenser, no-rinse dog shampoo, and a dog bed on request. Both the firepit and hot tub decks are safe to hang out on with a pup nearby.

Is Cardinal House kid-friendly?

Yes — plenty of space for families, board games in the living room, and the yard is a favorite. There is no crib or high chair on-site, so bring what you need for little ones (or rent locally). The hot tub is not recommended for children under 5.

Are linens, towels, and toiletries provided?

Yes — sheets, bath towels, hand towels, hot tub towels, and starter toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap). Bring your own beach or lake towels if you plan a lake day.

The cabin sits among the treetops with a long-range Blue Ridge Mountain view off the back deck — best at sunrise and sunset. Fall color and snow-dusted winter mornings are the standout seasons.

There is no EV charger at the cabin. The closest public charging we can confirm is in Blairsville, at 129 Union Co Rec Rd, Blairsville, GA 30512. There may be newer or private stations closer to Blue Ridge, so it is worth checking your charging app before you head up.

Do you provide a highchair or pack 'n play?

No, Cardinal House does not stock a highchair or pack 'n play. Guests traveling with little ones are welcome to bring their own, or rent locally from BabyQuip in North Georgia. Casago (formerly Vacasa) guest support can also confirm the latest amenity list.

Is there a grill, and what fuel does it use?

Yes. The cabin has a propane gas grill on the main deck. A starter tank is provided; guests are responsible for refills at any nearby hardware store or gas station if the tank runs low during your stay.

Is there a fireplace or fire pit?

Both. There is an indoor gas fireplace in the living room with a wall switch, typically operational October through May — please turn it off before bed. Outside there is a wood-burning fire pit with seating for at least six. A starter amount of firewood is provided; most guests bring extra wood and fire starters from the nearby gas station. No open burning during dry advisories.

Cardinal House has three bathrooms, each equipped with a hair dryer. The primary and main floor bathrooms feature tubs, while the bottom floor bathroom has a walk-in shower.

Casago's standard policy applies and the exact refund window shows at checkout once you pick your dates — typically full refund if you cancel more than ~60 days out, partial closer in. If plans shift, message Casago guest support 24/7 and they'll walk you through the options.

Where do I book — and can I book direct on this site?

There is no direct booking here. The Check availability links carry your dates over to VRBO, Airbnb, or Casago, and you finish on whichever platform you pick — all three list the same cabin, the same calendar, and the same rates. We are partial to VRBO, but book wherever you are most comfortable. Booking, payments, and guest support are handled by MountainBlu, a Casago franchise, so there is a real person on call whichever channel you use.

Who manages the cabin — Vacasa or Casago?

Cardinal House is managed by MountainBlu, a Casago franchise. Vacasa became Casago, and MountainBlu is the local team for our area — so you may see any of those names depending on where you are looking. Airbnb shows Casago MountainBlu, VRBO shows MountainBlu. Same people either way.

Can we host a small gathering or event?

Cardinal House is designed for the guests on the reservation. Small daytime visits from friends are fine; no parties, events, or extra overnight guests without asking first.

Are there security cameras at the cabin?

Accepted Answer

Exterior only. Outdoor cameras cover the driveway and entry for security and package delivery. There are no cameras inside the cabin, and none in private outdoor areas like the hot tub or firepit. No audio is recorded. Camera locations may be updated over time, but any changes will remain exterior-only.

Is the cabin on septic — what should we avoid flushing?

Yes, Cardinal House is on a septic system. Please flush only toilet paper — no wipes (even ones labeled "flushable"), paper towels, feminine products, or cotton items. In the kitchen, keep grease, oils, and food scraps out of the drain. Following these two rules keeps the system happy for you and the next guests.

What should I do in an emergency (gas smell, power outage, water leak)?

Your safety comes first. If you smell gas, step outside immediately and call 911 if you feel unwell. For any urgent issue — gas, water leak, power out, no heat/AC, or a lockout — contact Casago (formerly Vacasa) 24/7 guest support at the number in your check-in email.
