Arrival guide
Getting here, without the guesswork.
The drive, the driveway, check-in, and where to stock up — everything guests ask before the trip, in one place.
The drive
- What's the drive time from Atlanta?
- About 1 hour 45 minutes from north Atlanta on a clear afternoon, closer to two and a half hours if you leave in Friday rush. The roads in are paved; the last stretch is a gravel driveway on a slope, where four-wheel drive is recommended and any car should take it slowly when wet.
- How far is Cardinal House from downtown Blue Ridge?
- About a 21-minute drive from downtown Blue Ridge, GA — close enough for dinner and a show at the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, quiet enough to feel tucked into the woods.
- What's the closest airport to Blue Ridge, GA?
- Chattanooga (CHA) is the closest at about 1h25m. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL) models at 2h04m–2h11m and has more nonstops — budget about 2.5 hours to be safe with Atlanta traffic.
- Do I need a 4x4 or SUV to reach the cabin?
- The roads in are paved, and the last stretch is a gravel driveway on a slope down to the parking area. Four-wheel drive is recommended — many two-wheel-drive cars manage it fine in dry weather, but in rain, ice, or snow it's the one part of the trip worth taking slowly.
- How long is the drive to the closest waterfalls and hikes?
- Trailheads start about 25 minutes out (the Benton MacKaye Trail is the closest). The nearest waterfall, Fall Branch Falls, is a 37-minute drive, and most of the others run 40 minutes to an hour and a half. Every place in the area guide shows its drive time from Cardinal House.
- Where do I park?
- The driveway is gravel and slopes down to an open parking area by the cabin, with room for multiple vehicles. The approach roads are paved; four-wheel drive is recommended for the driveway, and any vehicle should take it slowly in rain, ice, or snow.
- How do I get the door code and directions?
- Follow the arrival instructions sent through your booking platform for your door code, directions and Wi-Fi details.
